Vrimj
Vrimj discovered alt.polyamory at 15 when doing research on romantic relationships. Two years later when she started dating she decided to try polyamory. Despite the normal teen dating angst this worked for her. When she met her late husband two years later she insisted on a poly relationship but between frequent moves, schooling and care taking she didn't have many additional partners.
After finding herself unexpectantly single at 30, she decided to become re-involved in the poly community.
Mostly she just blathers about this and that on the internet but then one day she was challenged to actually implement one of her ideas about using a group insurance model to deal with the legal risks poly people face as members of a minority community. The Polyamory Common Defense Association is the result.
___
Proposed topics- legal risks and community solutions
Other topics- I can speak about
Loss of a spouse/advanced directives/writing a wishes letter
Planning for disasters

Family networks
Long distance relationships
I switch in my family so I could do something about that :)
Gypsy Girl
Small Business OwnerI have been involved in many lifestyles. I don't fit well with one label. Currently I am 1 of 3 adults in a full poly relationship. I am involved with several other adults in an open poly relationship. (as they say, its complicated)
I was a slave for 6 years in a 24/7 environment. The lessons learned there were easily transferred to my marriage. Where my husband is the head of my household. He is the greatest man I have ever met in my life. We have had an open relationship since the day that he proposed to me.
My husband and I ran a business together for 8 years before he got sick. I continue that business and 2 more that we started prior to his illness.
We are very strong Christians.
He took ill in 2007. He has been battling cancer and its after effects. I have been his health care manager for the entirety of his illness.
During this time I am also caring for our 5 children.
We have a male that has joined our relationship shortly after my husband was diagnosed, but before the extent of his illness was understood.
All of this leads to me. I am just a girl. I am a person that has faced diversity. A strong person, a weak person, a loving, compassionate person.
We have been involved in an open relationship, swinging, play parties, swingers groups, social groups, D/s groups, a full D/s community. I personally have been trained to top and bottom, and have taught both sides of the stick. We have lived in different places, so I also have a little experience with different groups from Chicago from the Quad Cities in Iowa, a small group in Ohio, and here in Atlanta.
I have been a presenter at FroliCon, Dragon Con, Gen Con, and Quad Con.
Jennifer N. Johnson
AttorneyWebsite: Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor
Jennifer is an attorney not afraid to go against the grain. Because her focus is on her clients, she chooses to teach them how to accomplish their goals and save money at the same time - often at the ire of other attorneys.
Jennifer's law practice focuses on family law and criminal defense. She also routinely volunteers with Legal Aid to protect victims of domestic violence.
John B. Miller
AttorneyJohn Miller graduated from the University of Georgia's School of Law in 2003. After gaining some experience at another firm, he became the founding partner of what is now a mid-sized firm with three locations in the Atlanta area (Buckhead, Fayetteville, and Kennesaw).
John has handled a vast array of legal situations; his firm has successfully handled hundreds of cases. John has found that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In preparing for potential legal events in advance, a client can save a lot of trouble (and money). Whether it is making a plan or simply being aware of the way the law treats a particular circumstance, preparedness goes a long way in a legal matter.
Not afraid of a heated battle, John can often be found in the courtroom. While he enjoys court, it is John's strong belief that it is often in the client's best interest to work with methods to keep cases out of court if a reasonable solution can be reached. John's focus in public speaking is first how to avoid the courtroom by proper planning and is then how planning can promote successful trial strategies.
